Sunstar is a pioneer in the hotel industry when it comes to providing environmentally responsible services. We take care of the environment, use resources responsibly and try to use suppliers whose products and production methods are in line with our ethos. Being socially involved and having good relationships in our local area are also very important to us, so we cherish and support the people, culture and landscape in and around our hotels. We engage in regional activities and sponsor a number of projects such as Switzerland's umbrella organisation for disability sport, PluSport, and the organisation Amie Basel, which helps single mothers to enter the labour market. We use local produce and services and we are taking action to combat food waste by supporting the organisation Too Good To Go. We strive at all times to protect our good reputation and everything we do is rooted in our ethical principles.
Sunstar is involved in the OK:GO initiative and is thus helping to shape the future of inclusive and barrier-free tourism. This innovative initiative, supported by leading players in Swiss tourism, is revolutionizing travel planning for senior citizens and people with disabilities. Unlike conventional approaches, it focuses not only on certifications, but also offers an individual information platform. Every tourism provider is encouraged to collect and share up-to-date accessibility information without assessing the level of accessibility. This open provision of information enables travelers to decide for themselves whether an offer is accessible for them.

Being socially involved is very important to us. That's why, since 2021, we have been supporting the Swiss umbrella organisation for disability sport PluSport.
PluSport is the professional body that supports disability sport in Switzerland. It is the umbrella organisation that helps people, including many children and young people, who have disabilities to become involved in grass-roots and even elite sport. It works with all target groups, age groups and types of disability, in many different sports and always with integration and inclusion as its top priority.
PluSport believes it should be a matter of course that people with special needs can exercise, engage in sport and compete. Becoming involved in sport encourages them to integrate in groups and in society, bringing them more enjoyment and a better quality of life. And we want to support that goal!
In 2020, the first year of the pandemic, we wanted to say "Thank you" to the people who deserved it most. Under the slogan "Sunstar Hotels say Thank You", staff working on the front line at the Basel region's COVID referral hospital, Bruderholz, were each given a holiday voucher for 2 people for 2 nights at a Sunstar hotel. In that way we showed our appreciation for the tremendous, tireless effort put in by these professionals and thanked them with a gift in the form of holiday vouchers for a total of over 1000 overnight stays.

"Rescue food, help the planet" is Too Good To Go's motto. And we're taking part in this valuable campaign because we too want to avoid food waste as far as we can. So what exactly does that mean? Either in the evening or straight after breakfast, we offer any freshly prepared food that we can no longer use the next day to users of the Too Good To Go app, at a discounted rate, of course. More than 1.4 million people in Switzerland have already signed up to Too Good To Go. Would you like to, too? Just download the app and you're ready to go. We look forward to seeing you soon at a Sunstar hotel, when you collect your food package and do something good for the world.
The organisation AMIE Basel uhelps single mothers to enter the labour market. Coping with training, job applications, childcare and your own private life can be a challenge. To enable young mums to enjoy some holiday time for once, we donated since 2021 all-inclusive holiday vouchers to the AMIE organisation.
